HPH Postdoctoral Network

Main content start

The Center for Human and Planetary Health (HPH) Postdoc Network connects Stanford postdoctoral and clinical fellows working at the intersection of human health and environmental sustainability. This informal community brings together researchers from across campus — spanning medicine, earth sciences, engineering, and beyond — to meet one another, exchange ideas, and spark new collaborations.

By joining, postdocs will connect with a growing group of scholars doing related work at Stanford and become part of a community that HPH helps convene throughout the year. Eligible candidates should be current postdoctoral or clinical fellows at Stanford, with a demonstrated commitment to human and planetary health.

For further details and to join, please visit this link or reach out to our Program Manager, Sara Damore (sdamore@stanford.edu). Please note that this affiliation is for the purpose of cultivating community and connecting expertise; it does not provide salary, benefits, or rights of employment.

Together, we can advance research that contributes to healthier individuals and a more sustainable planet!

Meet the HPH Postdoc Network

  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Project Unleaded, Human and Planetary Health Mary is a maternal and child nutrition researcher with expertise in nutritional epidemiology, implementation science, and environmental health.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Biology Rachel studies how climate change affects vector-borne diseases like West Nile, Japanese Encephalitis, and dengue, whose transmission is highly sensitive to changes in temperature.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Project Unleaded, Human and Planetary Health Yan contributes to HPH's Project Unleaded research on lead exposure and air pollution in Bangladesh, with experience in air quality monitoring, field study design, environmental data analysis, and spatial modeling.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Project Unleaded, Human and Planetary Health Garima is a human-environment geographer, examining the social-spatial dimensions of global environmental change. Her research focuses at the nexus of systemic risks, climate adaptation, and sustainable development in the Global South.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Oceans Kayla is a disease ecologist developing disease risk assessments and rapid-response tools for climate-driven extreme weather and land-use change, combining human, animal, and environmental data, and exploring sustainable solutions like integrated rice-fish farming.
  • Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellow 2026-28 Chris is an interdisciplinary scientist working at the intersection of environmental change, food systems, and human health, with a particular focus on climate frontline communities.
  • Postdoctoral Fellow, General Internal Medicine Qinqin studies extreme heat's health impacts and mitigation benefits, combining meteorological and public health data to develop locally-tailored heat stress indices that improve heat warning systems and action plans.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Environmental Social Sciences Chirag studies air pollution at the intersection of atmospheric science, public health, and policy, combining measurements and modeling to identify sources, exposure, and effective interventions, with current work on wildfire smoke attribution and fire management.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Biology Monique studies how environmental pollutants like microplastics affect neurodevelopment and behavior during critical windows, using Xenopus embryos and tadpoles as a model system.
  • Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellow 2026-28 Aly investigates how global environmental change and development shape infectious disease transmission through both ecological and social pathways.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Infectious Diseases, Earth System Science Yuhan Wang is an air quality engineer and climate scientist studying how heatwaves and air pollution interact, with research spanning pollution mitigation, climate intervention approaches, and how warming affects urban air quality and health.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Ziyan investigates the fate of emerging contaminants– such as microplastics and nanoplastics– in human body and their health impacts.
  • Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth System Science Tie studies indoor ultrafine particle pollution from gas cooking, examining how appliance choices and ventilation affect residential exposure, drawing on his doctoral expertise in field monitoring and machine learning for urban air-pollution mapping.
