Main content start

The Stanford Center for Human and Planetary Health uses an interdisciplinary, system-thinking approach to equip the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle complex human and planetary health challenges. Our educational programs span all of Stanford's seven schools, emphasizing the inter-connectedness of human health and sustainability. Through coursework, student groups, speaker series, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, students gain a comprehensive understanding of how human health and natural systems are inextricably linked - while generating solutions to address these critical issues.

Stanford offers a range of opportunities for students at all levels and within all disciplines to engage deeply with these issues. With over 70 human and planetary health courses offered each year, Stanford covers topics like climate change, environmental justice, disease ecology, food security, global health equity, and more. For those seeking more immersive experiences, the Human and Planetary Health Action Labs, postdoctoral fellowships, science writing, and internship opportunities provide students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practical settings and contribute to impactful projects.
